Holier is an iPhone app that helps Catholics prepare for Confession and live the days in between. It guides a nightly examination of conscience, helps in moments of temptation, and turns what you name into a clear list to read from in the confessional.
Does Holier replace Confession or a priest?
No. Only a priest can absolve sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Holier helps you prepare so you can make a good Confession.
How do I do an examination of conscience with Holier?
Open Holier in the evening and start an examen. It asks a few gentle questions about your day in the spirit of the Ignatian examen. Anything you name as a sin is added to your confessional list for you.
How does Holier help me know what to say in Confession?
Your confessional list opens with "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned" and how long it has been since your last Confession, followed by your sins, numbered. Read from it in the booth, then mark it confessed.
Who can read my sins?
Only you. Your sin list is encrypted on your iPhone with a key that never leaves it, and the app is protected by a passcode. Your conversations are processed to power the AI, then discarded. They are never stored. Details are in our privacy policy.
